There are factors to think about:
One: Pain, of course. Keep in mind that places that hurt the worst are places with thin skin, a lot of nerve endings, bone, near bone, fatty tissue, mucus membrane, tendons...etc (That includes but isnt limited to: Chest, ribs, throat, upper inner arm, toues, feet, ankles, thighs, fingers, face, lip, inner lip, genital region) Anything you THINK would be sensitive, is.... So if the pain is no matter to you, go for wherever you want.
Two: But most important: Tattoos affect what people around you think. You should not CARE what other people think,a nd you wont; if you get this tattoo for YOU. Keep in mind that people are very judgemental about them, and even though worse things are more acceptable that tattoos, and many, many people have them, it can affect your life. People have the stereotyping habits of people with tattoos, and most importantly, it can hurt your chances in future jobs. Unless you are set in yor career, and it won't hurt your job or potential job, then do whatever you want. If you aren't set yet, to avoid job refusals in the future, you can get it in a discreet place. Either one that no one ever sees, or You could chose a place that you can easily show off, but just as easily hide for jobs (or families if they dissapprove). If the job is not an issue, just do it by your prefrence. But Keep that in mind, because many people can regret the job issue. You can ask suggestions from the artist, also. A lot of the design in the placement, placement is very important, so put a lot of thought into it..
Three: of course, you know Tattoos are permanent. I won't go into design and meaningfulness, because you seem like you were thoughtful about the design. Just remember they are permanent and will be with you when you age. If you are going to care later on, make sure you find a good place that usually will stay pretty much the same over years. Keep that in mind, and accept the fact that gravity will have it's way with you, and that elasticity will fail, and you'll be fine.
I'm glad you have your design set, just make sure you get a good, reputable, clean and profesional artist in the same kind of shop. Don't bargain shop too harshly for tattoos. A good Tattoo should not be comprimised for the sake of spending less money.
Just do whatever you want because YOU want to, alright?! :-)
Okay, as everyone that has a tattoo should know that tattoos fade over time, no matter what. Some causes of fading are the ink used, the care of the new tattoo, and the care of it when it is healed. Some pigments just are not as bright, talk to your artist about the ink, and ask to see pictures of their work to see the finished tattoos, and ask to see healed pictures, also. If you use the wrong aftercare, or cimply do not take care of the tattoo(especially when you cause the scabbing, scabbing always takes ink out of the tattoo. Tattoos need to peel, not scab) So take care of your tattoo. Alright, many people do not realize that you must take care of yor tattoo when it is healed. Keeping the tattoo moisturized makes it look less faded, and brightens/darkens the pigment in your skin.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: Tattoos fade because of the SUN! The sun fades the ink, just like it darkens your skin. the paler the skin, the brighter the tattoo. Even if you go out and tan, if you just put sunblcok over your tattoo frequently, it will not fade. NEVER let a tattoo go out in the sun unprotected. Always put protective clothing or sunblock on your tattoo to prevent drastic fading. My tattoos have NEVER, once since I have had them, seen the sun without sunblock or clothes! Even mine will fade, but I guarentee, it will be a good 30 years before anything needs to be touched up. I take care of mine, but no one can fight time and age. So tattoos fade over time, but if you take the proper care of them, your tattoos will look much brighter for much longer.
Choose a spot because YOU like it, not because of what other people say. And don't pick spot because it is popular, cool, sexy, or unpopular...
Good Luck.

do they ? s'pose I would disagree then, I have an eagle, a panther and a tiger, I do fancy a She Devil and a reaper next, but I am a romantic, for me tattoo's have to be something I have an affinity too, just a good looking tattoo means nothing if there's no personal meaning behind it.

I don't recommend the ankle, its really dated. I think that your bicep may be a good place. Usually its more masculine, but I've been seeing more and more women with them. If your not interested, try to stay away from the "tramp stamp" on your lower back, its not unique and not as elegant as it could be elsewhere. I have a tattoo smack in the middle of my back and I think that was the best location for me, its totally balanced and a little private. Tattoos are also really cool down your side, or on your hip. Good luck choosing!
