lemons. Lemons make your hair absolutely shiny. Just shampoo and condition as usual. After you've washed all the shampoo and conditioner out, give your hair a rinse with the lemon juice. I know you wanted home remedies, but John Frieda has great products for hair shine. Hope this helps --Marielle

I just answered a question like this a minute ago...and like I said then this is going to sound werid..
This is what u do.
Get some beer..Then let it get room temp. Then wash ur hair with it and use a hot oil treatment on ur hair I use Vo5 hot oil treatment.
Then just folo the instructions on the hot oil treatment then wash and condition ur hair as usual. I do this to my hair all the time and it is soft and shiny ^_^ Hope this helps
Also if ur underage or can't get a beer then you can try using rubbing alcohol..but a beer would be better.
Cause the alcohol in the beer basicly strips ur hair of gunk build up from shampoos and conditioners that you use which over time takes the luster out of ur hair *that is y every stylist u talk to will tell you to change shampoo, and conditioner every mth.*
Anyway when it strips ur hair of that it also takes the good oil along with it so you just take a hot oil treatment and it will replace all the good stuff back into your hair.
Repeat this at least once a mth for shiny smooth and managable hair :)

Well-groomed hair enhances your appearance. Everyone wants beautiful and shiny hair. Different types of hair need different types of treatments. Here we offer some tips to give your hair shiny appearance.
Fine Hair: Use a shampoo with wheat proteins and polymers. These ingredients cover the hair shaft, making it appear thick. Use spray volumizers. They coat your hair with a thin mist of droplets without causing your hair to droop.
Normal Hair: Use a shampoo containing silk amino acids. These acids make the hair soft and repair the damaged hair structure. Lecithin is vital for restoring hair texture. Gels and creams make hair shine. Put a small amount of the product on your palm, rub the hands together and pat lightly on the hair

Sara,
A great home remedy to shine up your locks is olive oil. Apply it to damp hair, put on a plain ole' plastic shower cap and hang tight for about 15-20 minutes. Then shampoo out. It will not reconstruct your hair in any way and the results are purely cosmetic but it is a quick, cheap home remedy!
If you have a few bucks to spare you might also try a shine serum like Redken Glass or if you have fine limp hair stick with a shine spray as your final styling product on dry hair. I like Redken Vinyl Glam.

There is a product called BIOSILK that you can buy in hair saloons. I purchased a large one of those over a year ago and I still have some. A little goes a long way. Its great for making your hair shine and getting rid of flyaways.

After shampooing, rinse your hair in white vinegar. It really makes it shine, but just make sure you get it all rinsed out; so you don't smell like a pickle.

Glycerin or Mineral Oil-not home remedies but cheap drugstore or pharmacy products add sheen without damage. I prefer glycerin
