In the wee hours of the morning....everyone starts going the day before. then leaves the day after...

If it is possible do not travle on the weekend.
DC to NY is only about a 3-4 hours trip I think.

If you can start your raod trip like 4-5 in the morning and get there for 8-9 inthe morning....remember that not everyone has off.

So keep in mind the local traffic ( going to the grocery store)

undesirable!!!!!!!!!! you would be driving on Rt ninety 5 and Rt 495. the two a sort of components alongside those 2 roads are rated interior the precise 5 WORST roads interior the rustic. surprisingly Rt 495 (the beltway). in spite of the undeniable fact that, in the process the summer time this is somewhat extra desirable (yet basically somewhat). Friday night is very undesirable with all and sundry attempting to get out of city for the weekend. i % to propose looking a place to stay the place you artwork. it relatively is a few money extra, in spite of the undeniable fact that it ought to take you 3+ hours an afternoon in site visitors. extra while you're taking metro and buses. in case you shop 2 hours an afternoon this may well be like saving $a hundred and fifty each week or six hundred a month. Plus you will delight in it extra.

I generally go to Philly from McLean for Thanksgiving, and have found that leaving right after the morning rush on Wednesday offers the easiest drive.
