As opposed to fixing someone ELSE'S credit? Well, you're off to a good start. First, you have to know what your credit looks like. You can request a copy of your credit report for free if you go to experian.com. You can also get a free one from transunion.com and equifax.com. I would get a copy from all of them if I were you. Then, if there is anything that you see on your report that should not be there, report it as fraud. When you get the report, you will see how to do this. Your report will tell you what needs to be paid off in order to get off to a fresh start. Sometimes, things stay on your report even after they are paid off. You can dispute this as well.
DO NOT seek help through one of those "credit help" agencies. They will just claim that all of the things on your report should not be there. Then, any of the places that no longer have info on you will not be able to report the bad stuff. You can do that yourself. Do that.....and then pay off the ones that you can't get rid of. Then, your credit will be fixed and you can build it into good credit by getting a credit card and using it right. Don't get into more debt........just pay off your card, use it again......pay it off, use it again.....get it?
