Granulomatous colitis is a chronic inflammatory disorder, primarily involving the small and large intestine, but which can affect other parts of the digestive system as well. In mild forms, granulomatous colitis causes small scattered shallow crater-like areas (erosions) called aphthous ulcers in the inner surface of the bowel. In more serious cases, deeper and larger ulcers can develop, causing scarring and stiffness and possibly narrowing of the bowel, sometimes leading to obstruction. Deep ulcers can puncture holes in the bowel wall, leading to infection in the abdominal cavity (peritonitis) and in adjacent organs.
For this condition to be severe enough to meet the Social Security Administration's listing the claimant must have:
recurrent bloody stools documented on repeated examinations and anemia; OR
Persistent arthritis, iritis, fever, or liver dysfunction, not attributable to other causes; OR
Intermittent obstruction due to abscesses, fistula formation or narrowing of the intestine that does not respond to treatment; OR
Recurrence of 1, 2, & 3 above after total colectomy; OR
Significant weight loss. but you could qualify for s.s.i ... if you dont qualify for social security..

Call the Social Security toll free number and make an appointment right away. At your age, most times you will have a better chance of getting disability quicker than a younger one.

Call 1-800-772-1213 and schedule an appt. with your local Soc Sec office to file for disability. Or you can actually file online at www.ssa.gov. Multiple health problems and your age would probably qualify you. Be sure to fill out all paperwork in drastic detail as it is your case. And, if you can, obtain all doctors' records and give to SSA to save time. Good luck.

catzrme, is correct. I would vote that best answer. That person would know how it all works, being a former employee of the SS dept. I do wish you good luck, and hope you get your disability. I am trying to get mine, and I do have an attorney.

Yes, definitely. You should at least try, and start immediately. It took my disability 6 years to get through denial & appeal after denial & appeal, before I got a dime. Start now!

you probably can, you need to apply and if you are denied appeal, get a lawyer to help you. It is a long process, but you need to try.
