Of course it does, it is already rancid before you buy it. Any oil, except 100% pure coconut oil, and cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil, are the safest to use. All the other oils, are rancid due to the fact that any light, be it artificial or sunlight,turns them rancid. So the next question is how long has the product sat on the shelves in the warehouse, and on the shelf in the supermarket etc. before you bought it. Then the biggest worry is that in all of these oils one cannot smell or taste that the oils are rancid. Use at your peril.

Yes it can any oil can
Olive oil is very good and much better for you although not good for frying chicken it can burn quickly must be used on low heat

if it been there a long time i would not use it might have bacteria build up. useuly the bottle say the expire date on the side.

Yes, in one year. When in doubt you should smell it and if it has off smell to it throw it away.
