My grandaughter is pretty responsible and wants to move out of state to be with her boyfriend. She will continue her college there. She hasn't got a good home life. What do you think?

She is probably going to go no matter what you say. Your concern is understandable, but she is going where she feels safe, comfortable, and "loved". That does not imply you do not love her or express it. It means her source of well being right now is with her boyfriend. If she is responsible I am sure she has her priorities in order and will make the right choice. If however it does not prove to be what is right for her just let her know before she goes that you are always there for her without, without judgement ...she needs stability that obviously is not present in her home life. As a grandmother be a good listener, and source she can turn to when she needs dependable advise. May God watch over her and guide you both.

It depends. If she's got a bad home life and is responsible enough to go off to college away, I'd support her. Make sure she understands that if things don't work out, she can come home to you. Give her a one way ticket back home with no time contraints on it as a going away gift. Then, if things work out she can use it to come visit, but if things aren't so good, she can come home.

Have you talked to her about it? It sounds like you are concerned about her home life, would you be willing to extend yours to her? There is always a chance she might move out there with him and they break up. Then she will be stuck away from where she was and from you. Let her make the decision, but let her know you will be there for her.

Let her go but be right there for her if she needs to come back. Stability is important as are roots.

Let her go and let her be happy, and if things don't work out for her help her get back to you. that's all you can do. Good Luck
