Yes, if your hair is straight it reduces frizz. If it's curly it helps it to define curls while eliminating frizz as well. It works best when putting the hairdryer setting on cool instead of warm or hot.

RE:
what does a diffuser (for a hairdryer) do?
i got a new hairdryer and it has a diffuser and a concentrator. i know what the concentrator does, but what does the diffuser do? if i have really thick hair (that's straight) will it help my hair not be poofy?

It's used to dry hair without causing frizz. I also find that it works when I want to get a wave going. When I take my hair out of the towel, I don't comb it out. If I use the diffuser on my dryer, it will dry my hair and the wave will still be there. Basically, it dries without knocking out the style, too.

It helps dry wavy or curly hair without causing it to frizz. I have wavy/curly hair and the diffuser is a godsend. As I just said, I don't have straight hair, so I don't know what it would do for straight hair. It wouldn't hurt to try it though.

I asked my hairdresser if straightening was bad for my hair she said it was not bad at all as long as you use heat protection heat spray and only straighten it about once a week. That's what iv been doing for about 4 years and my hair is still in a healthy condition. so really irons aren't that bad for your hair! I should think they are both equally as bad as each other but i do feel when i dry my hair I'm constantly going over the same bit and comparing that to straightening its only once. If you do want to keep your hair curly then just put rollers in at night therefore no heat and will stay for about 3 days. good luck

I have had curly hair all my life and a diffuser takes the frizz out. So if your hair is straight it probably will make it flatter and less poofy without frizz.

it acts like a wind buffer so that only heat comes out of the nozzel. if your hair is straight the diffuser really wont do much for your hair type except pull a few natural waves out.
