I have no preferences in it.
I just use the software that suits my needs. Mostly, I use
(Freeware)
Burn4Free
Imgburn
DeepBurner Free

I use iTunes.
I've burned probablly 300 CDs with it and only one error ever because I tried to put some japanese song I got a kick out of on there.
I think it works muuuuch faster than Windows Media Player.

u can use wiindows media player but Ive used it a couple times and some songs didnt play good, but with NERO it works perfect
