Isaiah 40:22 reads: “There is One who is dwelling above the circle of the earth.”

the word translated circle can also be translated sphere, and deffinitely refers to a ball shape, not a flat disc as some believe. This goes to show that the Bible writers were way ahead of their time and were inspired by God.

It was written in Isiah is a very good place to find this
and is interpreted as spherical worlds. The bible takes on
the whole babylonia in one way, the three mentions of the
sphere imply that only God could make man, angels, saints,
astronauts walk upright in harmonious pursuit. The other
two mentions are in epistles where Paul is lost in the sea and
HE comes above, and shows the sinners that Paul must not
be kept below that the fish are swallowing too much planktons.
Then HE placed Paul on the rock of ages that is in Syrian
legends found on every shore, making the feature point a sphere
of density supporting land like islands above water. Finally a
mention of the very rare adventists Bibles says in Mark that
the Designs will never change that HE will not forbode not
forget, not forage any further, the edge is over right left and
straight down yet the spirit below would drive you upward
showing an artist of angels at the horizon closing the gates
of edges and leaving the world safer with the endless surface.

To whom then will ye liken God? ....It is he that sitteth upon the circle (chuwg) of the earth (Isaiah 40:18-23
He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a BALL (duwr) into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house. (Isaiah 22:18)

The Hebrew word used in scripture for "circle" in the verse above is chuwg. If the Bible writer had meant for us to believe that "circle of the earth" meant that the earth was round, the writer would have used the Hebrew word for "ball," which is duwr. The fact that Isaiah didn't use duwr shows that he wasn't trying to tell us the earth was like a ball.

Furthermore, there exists a simple interpretation of "circle of the earth" which does not imply a spherical earth. On a hill overlooking a wide expanse free of tall trees and other hills the horizon appears as a perfect circle, 360 degrees of blue sky. If Isaiah meant to tell us the earth was a globe, he would have used another word. A circle is not a ball, nor is a ball a circle. Everyone knew what a "circle" was in those times; it meant the same then as it means today.

The bible actually goes along with the common viewpoint at the time that the world is flat:

Other evidence that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat is found in the following passages. The first is in Matthew:

"[T]he devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them"
(Matthew 4:1-12)

Certainly, if the earth were flat, standing atop "an exceedingly high mountain" would allow Jesus to see the whole earth, but there is no mountain tall enough to allow him to see the other side of a spherical earth. At most, one hemisphere would be seen, but not the other.

Anyone who watched a ship go over the horizon knows the Earth is round.

Ok..... Now this is just my belief.....

And I have noticed a lot of christians FOR SOME reason think the bible MUST be scientifically correct.

BUT , I think the Bible is a SPIRITUAL book. It isnt to teach you about evolution, or creation, or planets, or DNA or anything like that.
It is MOSTLY metaphorical , stories that illustrate ideas that are hard to convey like "love", "judgement" ( you may disagree with me on this one, but from what I can see, most people DO NOT think they -are- judgemental, so then it is difficult to show them what it is. ) Wether the bible says "Man has a genetic code" or any other such nonsense is IRRELEVANT to the purpose of the bible. Which is to show people spiritual principles.

It never says the earth is a sphere. It says the earth is a "circle" that one can "sit on the center of". You cant sit in the center of a sphere (You'd be at the earth's core), so the bible is saying the earth is flat and round, like a pizza.

One more case of the bible being WRONG.

It says the Earth is round, but not spherical. "Round" implies a flat circular shape.
