Any style, any brand, no preference. I know it won't be the "best" possible knife in existence, but I want the best possible knife within this price range. In other words if you only had $100 or $200 to spend on a chef's knife and had to buy one, which one would you buy? Please include name or model and estimate of price if possible. Thanks.

I use a knife that cost $25 dollars, but is much better quality than many at the $100 - 200 price range. It seems as though others have caught on to this great product (see this blog posting for a complete description): http://frugalfoodie.blogspot.com/2006/10/buy-this-knife-forschner-victorinox.html

Good luck!

I think its the one that RR uses. I cant afford YET, but thats the one I'm gonna get. Its wide up to pick up chopped food to place in bowl or pan,and see those ridges? that prevents food from sticking (like suctioning) to the blade while chopping. I hate constantly having to wipe my blade! (would have now, but buying chest freezer first ( :)
