1st - dead ends are dead, say goodbye and get a good trim.
2nd - before you get in the pool:
get your hair wet with tap water
put about 1/4 cup conditioner in a 12 oz water bottle, mix well
and spray on your hair.
Braid or put hair in pony tail bun
Keep your hair wet with your spray bottle. Don't allow pool water to dry in your hair.
Shampoo your hair immediately after swimming with a shampoo designed for swimmers. Paul Mitchell, Redken and Tigi have good shampoos and conditioner but there are many companies that make them.

A cap with conditioner isn't a bad idea but I've never known anyone who did it more than twice.

Use a leave in conditioner after every shampoo, get regular trims and use a thermal heat protectant whenever you use a blow dryer or curling iron. I use KMS' Flat Out in the salon every day. Then do a deep conditioning treatment about once a week. Joico makes two I like to mix together. Mix 2 parts Joico Reconstructor and 1 part Joico Hydrator and apply to freshly shampoo'd hair. Leave on 2 to 5 min and rinse. You're hair will stay healthy and manageable and you don't have to quit swimming.

Ok. I'm not like a trained professional or anything, but from what I've read, you can't bring slip ends back from the dead. Also, preventing them is something extremelly hard to do. I think everyone gets them, and the only way to start over is to get them cut. I read that hot oil treatments are really good. They have some at the drugstore, and some of the good ones aren't expensive at all. As low as 3 dollars to buy the hot oil yourself. Good luck!

You have to get your ends trimmed every 3 or 4 months anyways so away with the ends to start and wear a cap and earplugs to prevent swimmer's ear!

Try Suave Clarifying Shampoo. It is cheap (normally under a dollar) and works GREAT. (But only use it after you swim)
