Though as most ppl are saying.... he will not remember the day, there are still things that can be done that are enjoyable. When your child squeals with laughter that moment will always be remembered by you. Little ones are stimulated through sights and sounds, so remember to put alot of twinkling lights on the tree. Hang curly cued streaming ribbons from the ceiling. Perhaps some motion santas, or any type of lil christmas mechanic thing that moves and makes music or talks. Children's christmas music. Christmas pop up books. Christmas cartoons. etc... Remember the most important thing is that though your child will not remember this particular day...by taking tonssssss of photos/movies not only will you have the memory and day saved, but you will have a christmas story to tell to him as he gets older and you show him his "first Christmas". Children love seeing themselves in photos and hearing the stories behind it. Have the time of your life this Christmas season and do what makes your family laugh and smile.

Take him to see the sights, at this age everything is magical and lights and sparkles will be out of this world.
You don't have to make expensive trips either, most garden centres have fantastic displays and they are free to look at.
My children all loved to visit the christmas shops too.
He may be a little young to visit santa but you know him best, just make sure if he does go see santa to take him to a reputable store to be sure any gift he gets is safe for him . There is nothing worse than your baby getting a gift you need to confiscate !
But most of all enjoy it , if you are happy he will be happy and as for prezzies he will be fascinated with the wrapping paper so don't worry too much about what to buy for him.

I remember those days all too well and the feelings that you are having. Honestly, the writers are correct. The first holiday is for the parents because the child doesn't understand....it's for you. Time hurries past but, memories remain. Make the memory of your child's first christmas something that you never forget by videotaping and taking lots of pictures. Start a collection of Twas the Night Before Christmas Books and a Santa. Buy your child a different version every year and a different Santa. That way he will have a great memory and so will you. I have also seen gift sets of holiday movies: Rudolph, Frosty, etc. get that for him and then you can watch it every holiday season together.

Well I think thats really sweet of you. I think as long as you have lots of xmas traditions and take lots of photo's, baby's 1st xmas will leave a lasting impact on him forever. Good luck bringing up your child happily, and have a lovely christmas with your son x

Ignore all these idiots who say it doesn't matter cos he wont remember!
My little girl was 6 months old last Christmas, and she absolutely loved it....I tell you what she kinda enjoyed, high enough so she couldn't reach obviously, we put some flashing lights up around her cot, so when she was in bed she could look at them, and we got her REALLY excited as she was opening prezzies (he WILL be able to rip the paper if u help him a bit) I think its just about taking a loada photo's and getting him really excited,

Hold and love on your child, play with him get him toys he'll go crazy for. Pictures, pictures, pictures and video, put together a Christmas scrap book. Keep on the nap time schedule so he won't be cranky. True he will not remember it but pictures of a happy baby with a happy family will bring happiness to all later

As he is too young to understand what's going on around him, just make sure that he is in a good mood most the time. Go places like the mall or park and visit relatives/friends. As parents, you share the good spirit of Christmas by seeing him smilling and laughing. And of course, to capture the moment, take lots of pictures and make an album for him. When he is older, he can always review the album---hopefully what he will see are smiles and laughter.

i have twins the same age. what I'm planning on doing is just decorating a tree very colorful so they enjoy looking at it, and video taping Christmas morning so they have some sort of memory of their first Christmas. I'll give them a bunch of ribbons and wrapping paper to play with, babies love that stuff.

How about the most comfortable blankie???? Those can always be kept. Not that I still have mine or anything... but I did have mine for at least until I was 14 or so. Like Linus from Charlie Brown. LOL.

Just have a Lot of pretty lights all colors mabe with tinsel on the tree. Babies really like to look at pretty lights. Also play soothing christmas songs, and most of all get all excited yourself, he will sense that! And of course record these memories!
