I absolutely loved this thread! It is just dripping with duality and sheer hypocrisy. How does a Christian reconcile being revolted by homosexuality and then go eat a plate of bacon? How does a Christian tattoo "God hates fags" on his back when Leviticus prohibits tatoos? Arguing whether the Old Testament trumps the New Testament is inconsequential. The Bible like all holy books are meant to be a guide, not literal ideology. Jesus was a great teacher who had much to imprint on us all. The problem with religious institutions is that they are led by man, who is extremely fallible and prone to corruption. Men of power long ago decided to turn religion into a mechanism for controlling the masses. I think what most people feel but fail to acknowledge is that God is in all of us. It is not some great being in the sky or whatever. Organized religion does nothing but divide us all and distract us from sharing God's love! I think if most of you look in your hearts, you feel the same love of God

IN the new testament bible you are allowed to drink wine. And according to the new testament now you are allowed to eat all meat including pork. Because of the New Testament we as Christians are no longer under the Old testament and that includes the Book of Leviticus which is in the Old Testament.

That is from Old Testament dietary laws. It never applied to Christians. If you read the new Testament you would know that all foods were cleaned for the Jews. However most Jews do not believe the New Testament. But, to answer your question-eating pork is not against the law, nor is it forbidden.

In all the heavenly religions where prophets are sent by Allah (God) to guide humans, eating of pork is strictly prohibited. These religions include Jew, Christianity and Islam. People who follow these religions in their original form (unmodified) do not eat pork at all. People who have made changes in the original religion eat pork and argue that it is allowed in their religion. The path to heaven is just to bow your neck in front of will of God, because He Almighty is the only Creator and Owner of this universe.

Jesus came to fulfill the Mosaic Law, so we are no longer under it. Remember, that in the time of Moses, animal sacrifices were a requirement for the forgiveness of sins. We no longer have to do that because of Jesus giving his life for our sins. We are also able to eat pork and be thankful for it. Consider what 1 Timothy 4:4 tells us--"For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving"
Yes, bacon and ham can be eaten with a clear conscience.

it comes from a passage about peter refusing to eat something which was unclean. he was told that that which the lord said to eat was clean. hence the dietary restictions on the jews was not to be followed by christians.
for your information, many of the reformed jews eat pork. the original reason that such was not to be done was due to the trichinosis bacteria which is found in pork. at that time no one understood the reason, but unless pork was fully cooked, the bacteria was able to infect anyone and the discease called elephantiasis would cripple people.

For those of you explaining that some of this law is from the Old Testament, and that Jesus came to redeem us from these laws, I refer you to:
Matthew 5:17-19, where Our Savior himself says: "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven"
Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience. It's nothing personal, "love the sinner but hate the sin," and all, but I simply can't serve anyone who would blatantly disregard God's sacred law in such a fashion.

They are not supposed to. Many believe that Jesus got rid of the food laws in Mark or Matthew because of the words that are put in the and NIV like "By this God made all food clean to eat". these words are added and not supposed to be there. To say they are for the Jews is crazy also.
Ro 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Wasn't Paul talking Gentiles here.

If they would do some history they would know where they come from and who Christ was. He was in the Old Testament. Who gave Moses the commandments? Who gave Moses the food laws? Who fought with Jacob? Jesus Christ.

Joh 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.Joh 5:47But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Read the beginning of John. Really Find Jesus.

If the laws are done a way with then why should we believe Jesus. The food laws and all laws should still be kept if you truly believe that Jesus was the son of God.

I am a Seventh Day Adventist and in my religion we don't eat
pork because we know that according to the bible is forbidden
by God .There are a few reasons beside religion for no eating
pork ,one of them is that is not a healthy meat because it has
a bacteria that can make a person get sick.

You guys are full of it. No Jesus didn't die for your sins so you can break all of Gods laws. That is ridiculous. That's like saying there is a shortcut to heaven. That's why I converted to Islam, most sensible religion.
