You can cover it but you can not hide it from a male dog.

Remember, propagation of the species is the highest directive for all animals including man. When a dogs phenoms say "Mate with me I'm ready" there is almost nothing you are going to do to stop it. Of course except place the female in a concrete bunker.

no when a female comes in heat there's nothing you can do to cover the scent. so what you need to do is to keep the female in your sights at all time, because you don't want every male in the neighborhood over. just keep her clean with a bath once a week and that will keep her from attracking all the males, but it won't cover the smell, it will always be there mtil she comes out which is in about 3 weeks.

yes there is a product called anti mating spray that can be sprayed on the female while in heat your local pet store should carry it

i think not. just keep her in the house or caged up so she can't get pregnant.
