Which is it?
"Thou shalt not kill." - Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17
"God is not the author of confusion but of peace." - 1 Corinthians 14:33

"Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. " - Exodus 32:27
"Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ***." - 1 Samuel 15:2-3
Infants and sucklings?? Defenseless animals?? If that is not outright murderous debauchery, then what is? And this coming from a God of justice and love??

It was impossible for God to lie." - Hebrews 6:18
-OR-
"God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned." - 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger for ever. - Jeremiah 3:12
Then later in the very same book....

"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." - Titus 3:9
"Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do." - I Timothy 1:4

****************************************
"And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth." - Genesis 6:13
God was angry because "the earth was filled with violence." So he killed every living thing with a flood to make the world less violent??

I deny the Christian god because I believe that the Goddess and the God created all and are therefore within everything. That is to say, the earth, its inhabitants, animals, and nature all contain the divine and therefore are all sacred. I am also much closer to the Divine since converting. Why do you think that's bad?

Deny God? I grew up in an evangelical denomination similar to 7th Day Adventism.
Throughout my childhood, which was filled with images of Armageddon, threats of Hell and exhortations to "accept Jesus into (your) heart," I had serious doubts about myself because I was doubting what I was taught.
Finally, at about age 12 I had a "religious" experience in which I realized it was all b.s. and that it was the adults who were kooky and not me.
That was one of the best days of my life. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders and that I could BREATHE again.
I have never, not for one second, regretted that epiphany. My life has been so much better as a result!

I am a former Christian.
I reject the RELIGION of Christianity.
I ACCEPT God and the teachings of Jesus.
I REJECT the exclusivist theology and doctrines of Christianity.
I reject the discriminations taught by Christianity.
I reject the superstitions embraced by Christianity.
I reject the idea that Jesus and Christianity are One. Jesus never stipulated that to be so. Jesus said "My Father and I are One." Jesus never taught Christianity, never mentioned Christianity, and never taught hatred and condemnation towards others for their differences.
I BELIEVE Jesus, that is I believe what Jesus did and said.
I do not believe "IN" Jesus, which stipulates a belief in teachings not original to Jesus (Paul, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, Robertson, etc.).
After 2,000 years, innumerable translations, transliterations and versions, I do not believe the Bible to be authentic, definitive, and original. Nor is the Bible infallible.
I could continue, however, I'll spare you what one pastor has already called my critical thinking: heresy.

I don't deny god; I had to leave organized religion to bring myself closer to god. I had to move on, I had to grow.

I saw that deities are an unknown, unproved entity. Since they are a cosmic 'maybe' I prefer to concentrate on life on earth with my fellow human beings and leave the unknown until the time when death will show me the answers.
