I heard that if you try to suppress your sneeze, so that it doesn't come out in a big achoo, you can damage your brain. May be just an urban legend, but I wonder may be there is a little truth to it. Do you know what I mean - when you sneeze with a "closed mouth" so that the sneeze happens inside.

I doubt it can damage your brain. But it is bad for you. You sneeze to expell germs or something irritating your sinuses, so not allowing yourself to sneeze ("closed mouth") allows that germ or whatever to stay inside. Just let yourself sneeze!

I'm not a doctor but I've never heard of anyone doing any damage from sneezing either "silently" or just letting it go with a big achoo. I'm the big achoo type myself. I've always wondered how anyone could actually hold a big sneeze inside a closed mouth, or even want to do that.
Ancient wisdom says that a sneeze is a way to let the devil loose from your body. That is supposed to be where European custom demands that one says "Bless You" when you sneeze out loud. Those who hold a sneeze in...........are they trying to keep the devil protected? Hey, this is the Internet, what do I know?

Its possible to sneeze without using your vocal cords for that achoo sound. Sometimes it is also possible not to sneeze at all by observing that strong sensation you get in your head before you sneeze until that sensation weakens but that takes a lot of practice. Good luck.

Suppressing a sneeze doesn't damage your brain. However what does happen is the pressure can force mucus through the eustacian tubes into your ears and cause an infection.

ive hurt my back really bad before from not letting a sneeze out fully... you should just sneeze it out since it ,may cause serious injury. They've clocked sneezes coming out of your nose mouh at over 200 mph !!!!

if it dosen't come out then it has to go somewhere
when u sneeze ur trying to get out germs of ya body.
so u could throw it up
or take a SHlT and it'll be gone

by ''holding'' back your sneeze you are and will most likely rupther small veins leading to the brain, it can kill you and so on.....let it rip like a fart!!
