Excellent question! I truly think that it is because modern American Protestantism is the new Pelagianism - and it is failing miserably...no matter how much they preach about "Grace" and "Faith" - the whole idea about "I am saved now - I don't have to work on sanctification" is BOGUS...and not at all what the Scriptures or the Apostolic Fathers teach. These neo-con "Evangelicals" would have lasted about a nanosecond during the persecution of Nero or Diocletian. None of this surprises me...."All have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."

It is just not conservatitive but it is all of Christianity, that is the great part of it, we find that mankind is all sinners, and that we can all be forgiven.

From adan and eve we have had deceit, from the sex of Lot and more, Man sins, and no man is pure, only God.
So it shows we are just all normal people, not perfect but ones that can be forgiven.

Only those that wish to attack Christianity except them to be perfect.

It isn't, where are you getting your information and evidence.

I am a Christian, I am a virgin and will remain as such until I marry or until death. I am sure there are those who are conservative Christians who were or are sexually immoral but it is not as though they advocate such practices and are unrepentant. Sexual immorality is just another sin that we have to deal with, like the rest there will be Christians that commit any sin but a true believer would be repentant and try their best to change.

This goes for all philosophies and faiths that have extremely strict tenants. It's much easier to talk the talk, then walk the walk. It seems that in the modern world, certain restrictions of faith (whether they be Buddhism's aversion to alcohol, or the fundamentalist view of sexuality) seem outdated. We have instant gratification in our current society, which makes personal discipline more difficult to maintain. It's also easier to cover one's tracks now than before, but when your "short-comings" come to light, they do so in a MUCH more dramatic and explosive fashion.

It is a sign that they are in it more for the glory than for any sense of faith. They place themselves above everyone else, so they think the rules don't apply to them.

Of course, this is as much the fault of those who follow them. With such large congregations, it becomes easy for an elite segment to set themselves above others. You don't find that in a church where everyone knows everyone, been to each others homes, and where everyone is taught the same, to be teachers and preachers.

Because the whole world is tainted by sex and deciet. They are only a small part of the world.
It's a bigger story than it ought to be because they are supposed to be better than everyone else.

Why do you think it is? Just about everything on the planet is tainted by sex & deceit. You have to take the bitter with the sweet, and learn to not judge people by the actions of their peers.

Because the people that are in it are tempted. They fall. They stumble. Like any organization, that is run by people.

They get so big, they think they are above getting caught. Christians aren't any different, they are just held to a higher value system. Esp. when their in the public.

good question. I think b/c sex and deceit plague many people and since so many people are Christians the two overlap sometimes, nobody is perfect.
