When the outward appearances are equated with the blessings of God, then yes. But the story was much more than that. It was about man being faithful to God inspite of it all. All he had left in the story was his faith in God. He had no food, no wealth, no family, no home, and eventually, no health. All these things were taken away from him. Yet, he remained faithful, which was what God was counting on. The devil lost the bet again, so once Job passed the test, God gave him more than he had in the beginning. It's like life. We start off with not much, then we gain more and more as our abilities warrant. By the end of it, we loose everything, even our health. But if we've lived a spiritual life and adhered to the teachings, when we die, we will have so much more than we had in this life.

The story of Job was actually a very old Babylon tale that the Hebrew people picked up while in captivity there. In the Babylon tale there was nothing returned to Job at the end of the story. The Hebrews liked happy endings so they slapped that ending onto the story and that is what we have today.

It was not necessarily important. However, after Job repented for the things he said about God and showed how much faith and trust that he still had in God, even after his life was almost destroyed, God rewarded Job with twice as many things as he had before. He also gained seven more sons and three more daughters, after losing the same amount.

To correct what Satan did to Job as he was an upright and blameless man whom God loved and to display what would happen in the future when God has his Son Jesus Christ break up the works of the Devil in the New System of things under God's Kingdom Rule with Jesus as King.
