I am getting fed up with my ance

I always have at least 3 HUGE red big ones. and lots of little colorless ones everywhere. also minor ones everywhere

I am 100000% self concious

I cry almost every night because of it.

People give me weird looks

I try to ignore it, but i cant

I just want to craw into a black hole.

I hate it when people stare at me, so i always bury my face in my sleeves.

I need to get rid of it. Or i will cry myself into a grave.

Acne isn't a reflection of how you take care of yourself - trust me i know. I had acne worse than you for such a long time and i became so self conscious i didn't want to even go to work.

I can give you some professional tips that worked for me.
I had gone to 5 dermotoligists, naturopaths doctors and many remedie doctors. So i do know what i'm talking about.

Acne is a hormonal problem mostly caused within the body due to hormones and puberty it's also caused by stress etc.

You should drink as much water as possible 8 glasses is the recommended intake to flush all the toxins that cause acne out your body also pick your foods carefully !! Take away and junk food needs to be avoided, We all know where our meals end up coming out, to get to this process the food is in the colon, if your not eating enough fibre or too much bad foods the toxins from the foods build up in your colon and the toxins do not escape your body, this will show up in your skin with either oiliness, dullness, acne, pigmentation etc.

So try and eat fresh foods as much as you can like fruit, vegetables, fish, (white) chicken, breads ( Wholegrain is best).

Wash your face with an acne cleanser invest in a toner and spot treatment, clean your face no more then twice a day.
Buy an exfoliator and use that at the most twice a week.
Tea tree oil is also great dabbed on spots.
If this is a re-occuring problem, You should see a doctor because you can be prescribed an antibiotics or a contraceptive pill called diane-35 which regulates your hormones and stops acne in the skin..

If you want more info - Email me. ;o)

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

I'm a ethetician - we perform non medical care of the skin.

There are some products which are very effective that address the issues that cause acne.

You want to clean and get the ph of your skin to the correct level, GENTLY exfoliate, (which gets the dead cells off the skin, allowing new cells to migrate up to the surface and product to be more easily absorbed) and finally nourish and repair.

With regard to Proactive. It's a club - an auto ship - they send it to you every month, so you have to sign up for it - and beware the price you see is an introductory price. It's an effective product. Lots of people get good results, but watch out that you don't get stuck paying for tons of stuff that keeps showing up at your house that you don't need.

However, I recommend Timeless Presecription 3 Step Acne Care System.
You can get it at:

http://www.russo.unfranchise.com/index.cfm?action=shopping.uoProduct&prodID=11137

Here's the bio of acne. Your skin secretes something called sebum. It's job is to help keep your skin hydrated and supple. When your pores become clogged - (normally not with dirt from the surface, but internally -with dead cells) naturally occurnng bacteria begins to multiply. Your immune system then goes on alert and it sends white cells to the source of the infection and inflamation occurs.

Keeping the ph balanced allows the langerhans cells to remain healthy and to patrol your epidermis looking for invaders (bacteria)

If you squeeze your pimples you may spread the bacteria to nearby cells and pores - so hands off!

Another tip... If you use a harsh anti-oil cleanser, you actually trigger your cells to produce more oil, because it's now too dry.

One last thing, hun. I see people who think that their skin is really bad, and it's honestly not. Call a spa or salon with an esthetician and ask to set up a consultation. It may not cost you a cent, but get an opinion. No ethical professional will set an appointment and take your money if your care should be handled by a dermatologist.

Acne is NOT a reflection of how you take care of yourself, that girl above is sooooo wrong. It probably just went away for her over time by itself. ( I'm in the medical field). You can't eat stuff that will make it better either (water is not the solution but it's good for your skin overall). Stress and hormones are the causes. DO NOT BUY PROACTIVE: it has the same exact ingredients that many of the over the counter products have: the main one is Benzoyl Peroxide and there is a good product at stores called "Acne Free", it often comes in a box of 3 solutions (it has lower % of benzoyl peroxide like Proactive but much cheaper). Many over the counter stuff contains benzoyl peroxide and people are really gullible to believe that the brand "proactive" is some special potion. It just has great marketing and it is way over priced (people fall right into celebrity endorsed anything) You need to see a dermatologist and he will probably prescribe Minocycline ( a cheap generic antibiotic you would take morning and night or whatever he says). You will probably also need Tazorac cream and Retin A micro, and maybe Duac gel or Clindamycin (these are presciptions only from pharmacy). You can also use Salicylic acid that is sold at stores, I use "clean and clear acne wash" it's a foam in a purple bottle. These things may dry out your skin but you can use an oil free lotion (one of then also has a small percentage of salicylic acid: it's also "clean and clear". Also change your pillow case more often than usual and make sure the oil from your hair doesn't get on your face and make sure your phone doesn't touch your face much also.
Also I don't know how old you are but when I started breaking out the birth control pill Ortho tri cyclin (it binds some hormone so it decreases it) really really helped because it levels out your hormones (and also makes your period lighter and less painful). You should explore that with your gyn doctor and make sure that your mom knows that it's for your skin.

DO NOT use an exfoliator!!!! this is very irritating (maybe fine for clear skin BUT it will damage your skin more by causing little breaks in the skin and possibly causing scars from any pitting if it breaks apart the zits) and those products above are natural exfoliators anyway, especially the salicylic acid.
Also make sure that if you use makeup it says "non-comodogenic (won't clog pores)" "oil- free". And of course never touch your face unless you are washing it.

Also don't use Murad like that guy said below, it's the exact same ingredients as anything else but if you go to the web site they don't list the ingredients on the first page cause they don't want you to realize this.
But that does remind me, that I didn't mention glycolic acid, I just ordered this one ($27) : http://www.dermstore.com/product_Bioglycolic+Oily+Skin+Cleansing+Gel_2534.htm

but I really don't endorse any products online usually.

if you don't have really oily skin then you can use the bioglycolic facial cleanser (also $27): you can go straight to the Jan Marini website :

http://www.janmarini.com/prod_bioglycolic.asp

Azelaic acid and Mandelic Acid are also ones you can ask your dermatologist about.

You should use these products consistently but you can alternate too so your skin doesn't dry out too much. (ie: Tazorac is stronger than Retin A so you can alternate these)

I know it's a lot of info but it took me years to know about all these and I figured I save you some time.
good luck
AND .... You will be Fine!! and happy, just be patient!!

When it is the bad (Sorry), I dont recommend products. You may have an infection and need to go to the dermotologist. Facial infections cause ACNE not pimples not break outs but serious acne that doctors can help you with. And if its so bad you want to get "into a grave." You also may want to see a psychiatrist until your face clears up, talking and venting may help you feel so much better. DONT WORRY BE HAPPY OK!

hey bud,
i used to be like this totally. Acne is the worst disease ever, no question about it. I know you've probably heard terrible things about a drug called accutane. Please dont listen to this. I took accutane and it worked wonders on my skin, cleared me up completely. A lot of my friends have taken it too, with incredible success. It does have some side effects, but trust me anything is worth getting rid of acne. I really know how you feel, and accutane is the only thing that worked for me.
Good luck! :)

don't feel bad..acne can be treated. i used to have serious acne problems as well, but after going to the doc. and using other skin care products i discovered it is getting better now even though there are scars left but at least no more breakouts for me!!
depending on you skin type, it is important to choose products that suits you skin. i have oily skin, so i use a cleanser, i use my home made toner(organic apple cider vinegar mixed with water), and then my acne cream lastly SPF oil-free moisturizer. its works for me, try out for yourself, it might work. i also find the website below useful. hope you will get back your confidence soon!!!
