The emotional and behavioral problems are probably just because she's being a normal 2 yr. old, but that doesn't mean Crystal Light is okay for her.
I don't think children that young need drinks like that. I think they need milk, water, or juices that are 100% juice.

Formaldehyde? If it produced formaldehyde in any significant amount, it'd be fatal. And the cancer risk is no greater than that from eating red meat. The sugar in fruit juices would be more likely to result in behavior problems and hyperactivitiy than crystal light.
Frankly, I prefer to give my kid crystal light to juice. All fruit juices have a load of simple sugars in them, even those with no extra refined sugar added. A lot of strict pediatricians recommend only water or milk at this age, no fruit juices of any sort, because of the amount of sugar and calories found in them. I thought the flavored waters and crystal light was a reasonable compromise.

I guess im going to be a little different then everybody else because i dont think its a big deal!! I have a 2 and 4 year old and they drink lots of milk, crystal light, and tea with splenda and they have never had a problem. Me and my mother have drink aspartane for several years and we have been fine!!! You just have to think that its better then soda and sugary drinks. Our doctor has told us that its just as good as drinking water. And i think her attitude is just the age. My two year old is the same way, mean as fire!!!

no, aspartame is not good for adults, much less children. the child should have juice, water and milk, but i will get off my soap box!
there are websites that list potential dangers of these artificial sweeteners--however, none of this has been "proven" or else they would have to remove all this merchandise from the shelves. i wish i could remember the sites. i used to drink lots of diet soda and sugar free drinks myself, but what it does is this: your taste receptors on your tongue tell your body that something sweet is coming, your body produces insulin to digest this "sugar", when no sugar enters the body, you are left with an over abundance of insulin (which can lead to diabetes) this is why they came out and said that diet drinks are linked to obesity. i drank diet drinks for over 15 years, and was no where near obese, so i searched to try and disprove this, but what i found made me stop drinking it.
now this is not meant to horrify you, and no i do not think that by drinking crystal light alone your granddaughter is going to get diabetes, but think about it. if you don't know what it is made of, or how to pronounce it, don't put it in your mouth

WHY is a 2 year old drinking crystal light? That's like giving her soda! Yeah I can imagine she is very emotional and has behavior problems her sounds like her MAJOR problem are her parents! Aspartame has been proven to cause migraines in adults...I can't imagine what it is doing to that poor child.

Well mate, crystal light contains aspertame which can result to cancer. So...if these foods are sugar free they might contain cancer causing aspertame or monosodium glutaemate (and maybe both). These are notgood for her. She is only 2 and her nervous system is out of wack! Mate, you gotta do something! Children at her age need the sugar the most because it helps with cell division, reactions, and etc. Take all of the suger free things and get rid of em! Later in her life you can worry about her sugar intake.

Aspartame is linked to some really bad diseases. Better research & print out some info from the web to give to her parents. If they don't believe any of that, tell them to ask the child's pediatrician or nutritionist.

No and could be the cause of behavioural problems. Aspartame turns to formaldehyde once in the body.

you should go to a health food store and they will tell you all about it. I talked to a lady once at the HF store, and she told me aspertame turns to fermeldahyde in your stomach. As adults we are doing our bodys harm by drinking the stuff, i cant imagine what it is doing to a 2 year old who is still developing. I have a 2 and3 yr old, andi wont even let them sip my diet pepsi.... i do let them have pop occasioally but nothing with aspertame in it.
