The difference between making love and just having sex is the attention that each partner gives to the other. Wham, Bam, Thank You Ma'am is not making love...
Making love to another doesn't start in the bedroom.. It starts from the first time that you see each other that day... It is a build up of touches, emotions, eye contact, things said and things implied. Making love exists in the mind not in the body...
Sex is great (even bad sex) but nothing is better than making love!

Well, being a guy, I Totally agree with Dan J.
The whole build up is important, the way that he touches you, the way that he kisses you and he will take his time with you to make you feel special and wanted - that is making love, you will just feel it within yourself and that is how you will know.
Otherwise the guy will just be out to "get his" and then he will be off
that is emotionless...

If he is making love to you, he will say your name softly and kiss your neck. He will also look you deeply in the eyes. If it's emotionless sex, he will get on and get the job done and that will be that. If it's making love....I think you will know it without a doubt. If you have to ask, it's probably just emotionless sex. Sorry.

So you've had sex with a guy, and you don't know him well enough to determine if he cares about you or not? If you can't tell whether or not he's making love to you, he's probably not making love to you.
And if it's important to you that a guy care for you, then you might want to hold off on jumping in the sack next time. Hey, I'm not judging you. I'm just telling you what seems obvious and practical to me.
Better luck next time.

If YOU feel a connection, then you can be almost certain it's for real. The way you can tell is if he almost goes out of his way to make sure you're enjoying yourself and that you feel good. It could be anything from looking deep into your eyes to waiting for you to orgasm. Also, if he sticks around to lie with you for a little bit, that's a good sign.

Well that depend on how long he lasts? is he only thinking of his own pleasure?do u get to orgasm? Is he taking the time to explore your body or does he just jump on and go for it? Is there kissing and smoching involved? If he is not doing any of these then it is just sex.

don't have sex with him unless you are confident in advance that he is not just in it for the emotionless sex.

my personal way of expressing is by kissing during the "act". kissing is very personal. if it's just sex, it's usually "wham bam thank you ma'am". no cuddling.
