I have seen this on houses near the ocean. It's not the same color, just shades of blue. Is it an old nauticle superstition?

Several years ago,I saw (I think it was Martha Stewart) on a TV show that if you paint the underside of your porch roof blue,that birds will not build nests in the porch. If this is true then I can see why they do it near the water....seagulls can be ornery!!!

i answered this months ago and this is really true: it is called haint blue....old wives tale is that it keeps spirits away, but the real reason is that is will stop spiders from building nest and other animals......

i live in a east coast town and many of the house here near and on the harbor r painted this color.....
