You do it just like any other working mom out there. Get yourself a good support system and good childcare that has flexible hours. Check with childcare providers either on or around base that are certified and have childcare in their homes. They are often the best for dropping off early and/or picking up late. You will also need to have a power of attorney for someone to care for you children if you can not be there for them for any extended amount of time.
I had two children while I was in, and it is tough, but you do what you need to do to get the job done. Just realize that no one will give you any slack for it, so if you want to have children and be active duty, then don't expect any special treatment.....in other words you signed the contract. ;-)
Good Luck, and thank you for your service!

If you have a husband who is not in the military, then it will not be any more of a problem than for families whose father is in the military. If your husband is also in the military, life could get tough. If you are both deployed overseas, you will have to give custody of you children to a trusted adult who can care for them while you are away. They shouldn't send both parents overseas, but it has happened before. I don't know if a law has been passed prohibiting that action.

Unfortunately I think you should have asked this question long before you joined. You don't want to hear this, but women don't belong in the military. I know, equal rights, women can do everything men can do. Bullshite!!!!!! Women are slower and weaker and yes we can function in the military, but all we do is take all the most desirable jobs from the men because we are either incapable or not allowed.
All we have to do to avoid undesirable duty is get pregnant. Don't get your panties in a bunch, it happens every day. Additionally, men in combat make irrational and illogical decisions when they have women to look out for. Don't hate the truth.

I wouldn't have any while you fulfilling your enlistment. If you joined the army or marines and possibly Air Force, you'll most likely be heading to Iraq in the future. That's really hard on the kids and the parents to have to be separated for that long. Just put it off until you're out.

You just have to have someone to watch them, same as everyone else. Lots of military kids stay with the grandparents when mom and dad have to go away. If their dad is not in the military, he can take care of them.

Just like any other woman. Except, you should try to plan it around any big commitment you've already made. It doesn't hurt to let your immediate supervisor know of your intentions. That way, they too have some notice to fill your position if necessary.
I was in the Army from 1987-1997. Any questions, Ill give it to you straight, email me.

i had 3 children in the army. its not easy, i will say that. they give you a little time off after you have children, but then you have to find child care pretty quick. getting up at 5:00 am to get the kids off to daycare at 6 so you can do PT gets old real quick. its worth it, if you can stick it out till they are older. i didn't want to be apart from my children anymore, so I ETS'd. my husband remained active duty. it works out better for us.

I myself was in the military ( Navy) And yes a female too.....lol...I was never pregant, but I dont think they will do anything or anything like that if thats what you are wanting to know. But you night want to ask the question to a higher person like in medical. Many females have babies while in so you can always ask them to

first of all it is very brave of you and couragoues for you to join the navy, so God be with you. And i don't really know about the children. Maybe it is better for you to first join the navy then after you quit, sometime, you could get children. God bless you!!!!
