Trader Joes discontinued spiced chai - know any other powdered brand that compares?

This brand came in orange can both regular and decaf. Trader Joes carried this brand for years, now they no longer stock.

Did you check with the store manager? Perhaps TJ's still makes it, but it wasn't selling well enough in that particular store to stock it. If they still make it, and that store just doesn't stock it, you can order some.

I found a recipe to make your own.. Other than that, try a delicatessan or costco.

Spiced Chai Tea


This recipe makes delicious chai tea. You can play around with the spices- try adding dried sliced ginger, pumpkin pie spice, or use ground instead of stick cinnamon. Carnation french vanilla creamer tastes great in it too!

2 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon cardamon
3 whole black peppercorns
2 small slices fresh ginger, peeled
1 stick cinnamon
2 cloves
2/3 cup milk
4 teaspoons sugar
3 teaspoons loose black tea (or tea bags)






1. Put the water in a saucepan, add the spices, and bring to a low boil. Turn down the heat and let simmer for 4 to 10 minutes.

2. Add milk and sugar and bring to a heavy simmer. Add tea, turn off the heat, and let steep for 2 to 3 minutes.

3. Strain into two cups and serve hot.
