I assume you are asking what is the right way to touch him. By this, i mean, you want to communicate that you feel comfortable enough around him to touch him, but at the same time, you don't want him to get the wrong idea about you.
You have to first of all know what kind of guy he is (does he like to joke a lot? is he shy?) if he is into a lot of laughing and humor, you can hit him.... really, no joke, hit him. Getting hit in the arm by a girl is a total turn on. The Movie "Hitch" had it right. If he is shy, hit him harder.
One trick you may try is to act like you need to adjust your sandals (make sure you are wearing the strap style sandals) and use his shoulder to balance while you are "adjusting" the shoe... it depends on you- the longer you adjust, the clearer the message. Be casual about it and you can even smile and act apologetic while thanking him. This will not noly make him feel manly but he will also be feeling the touch long after the touch.
areas to touch: (some areas depend on the circumstance)
Innocent:
shoulders, arms, head, back
Risk- ey:
face, hands, chest, legs, feet, butt, neck, ears
I don't need to tell you the intimate areas.

Your hands are probably very warm and bordering on hot, if you really care for this guy. That sign alone is telling him how you feel! I was told one time by a male friend, touching yourself in selected area, sends out more signals than anything else. So you may want to try that! :)
