How much longer will it take before the our species annihilates itself?

Question

I can see it coming, whether by nuclear, biological or other means, we are surely heading for extinction. How much longer do you think it will be? Maybe a few million years from now some other species will evolve the intelligence to dig up our fossils. What will they think of us?

Hi. Dismal forecast but true. In a million years if we have not mutated ourselves out of existence, had a large asteroid hit the Earth, developed an absolutely drug resistant virus, or some other catastrophe, then we will STILL not be the same as we are today. Chalk it up to evolution, intelligent design, nature, or what not. If things keep up the way they are going now future archaeologists will determine that, for reasons unknown, we destroyed ourselves because we disagreed on the name of God.

Yeah. Well..... Darwinian selection pretty much guarantees the extinction of any species over time. These days, there just really aren't as many designs as good as the cockroach (somewhere around the middle paleozoic era. Call it about 450 million years ☺)

I'd guess 2..... Maybe 3 million years ☺

Probably won't last past the year 3,000...I'm just guessing...but I don't think humans have more than 1,000 years left with all the stuff going down. War was different back in the day...but people go crazy with it now...unless we get ourselves back on track, humans are going to wipe themselves out. Maybe not total extinction, but our numbers will dwindle a bit.
