I don't think that it's a good idea. If things don't work out then you'll have to think that you are working with this man and things will not be the same after that. Do you really want to put your professional life in a crisis for this ? Unless you're completely sure ( or planning on leaving your job ) then I would ask him out or Else I wouldn't do it.

I presume you are a woman and if so, there is no reason to feel your're not good looking. Get a total makeover. Check with a beauty parlor.
With a smart hair do, right make up and right clothes all you need is a nice personality. And I think you have that already.
Then go for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Let him do the pursuing. You don't want to make your situation at work uncomfortable, and if he makes the first move, you will not have to worry about jumping to the wrong conclusion about his interest in you. Men like the challenge of pursuing a lady, and let's face it, we like to play a little hard to get so that we know they are really interested. If he's interested in pursuing a relationship with you, he'll let you know soon enough.

could you lose your job if you find out he is different out side of work and you don,t like him that could make things very weired at work. And you say other already have some idea that your flirting with one another just go out for lunch that harmless enough to see if you have anything in common out side of flirting.

No. keep it out of the office or eventually you'll be looking for another job. If he ever asks you out, still really think about it, would it really work?
