Yes. Many of the problems that our country (USA) are having at this time (the war, economy, etc.....) are blamed on the Republican administration and I agree that some of these complaints are justified.
Because of the help that the Right-wing, Fundamental, Christian movement gave to the Republican party during the last few elections, many people blame Fundamental Christians, at least, for helping George Bush's rise to power.
I think most politicians realize the voting power of the Fundamental, Evangelicals and would like their backing. I just don't like being used to further the agendas of any politician and wish the Church would distance itself from the political scene.

In my opinion I feel there is a growing Christian backlash to all of this. As a Christian I have pulled away from the church scene, feeling ashamed to be associated with these radicals in search of more power. I know others who have done this as well, focusing more on personal ministries. We get bashed enough as it is, and yet they continue on this quest for unending power....power that will help them, but few others. I would like to see a major Christian movement that helps fellow humans and doesn't think about what political influence they can have. It is currently a sad state of affairs in my opinion.

Not to Christianity, not even to the political strength of Christian conservatives.
The backlash is to the stupidity of the actions of a few elected Bible-thumpers and to the arrogant self-righteousness of the few that elected them.

In all seriousness, I believe people have become very tired of all Religion, due to the fact that nothing really good came out of it in the last 10 years, but War, terror, and hypocrisy.

"Christian left?" it really is an impossibility. You in all chance is in basic terms unable to locate any leftist / professional-abortion / anti-self-protection / professional-taxation Christians. both colleges of idea are unique of one yet another. Communism, Socialism and Marxism is the polar opposite of what Jesus stood for. maximum Christians that i comprehend are not overly judgemental. possibly you're speaking about a particular crew of human beings on your existence. And in case you quite imagine that those everyone is incorrect about their beliefs, why would you care what phony Christians imagine? I absolutely do not care what a Jehovah's Witness or an LDS member thinks about ME because the're both in basic terms religious cults in my opinion. Why would a Christian care what a cult crew thinks? possibly you're doing something or exhibiting particular self-adverse habit that doesn't in good structure right into a Biblical existence-type and also you want the human beings round you to "furnish you with a pass?" possibly you've shown some gay habit? it really is totally incompatible with Christianity. you are able to go out and get all "inked up" with cranium tattoos and body piercings and then profess your Christianity, yet you'll in basic terms achieve this out of lack of understanding. What might want to a real Christian say even as they see someone doing that? save quiet? Or rebuke them out of love? no one likes to be suggested that they have got achieved something incorrect, yet would a real believer in basic terms proceed to be silent even as they see self-adverse habit from a professing Christian in basic terms because they "do not want to seem to be judgemental?" obviously not! in case you quite want to charm to close the actuality, actual sit down and skim that Bible that you've tucked away someplace. you'd be able to apply scripture to teach the present era of weak, worldly Christians what God quite needs for us and not in any respect in basic terms what they heard someone tell them a lengthy time period in the past. all the solutions are contained in the Bible; you in basic terms ought to dig into it and skim to locate them. What are you waiting for?
