well, it is easier to show, but here we go.
a)hold the ball in your left hand, with your right hand on top. you left foor should be pointed towards the spot you wanna serve, your right foot is parallel to the back line. your two feet should be like 6 inches or more apart.
b)take a step back with your right foot, at the same time pulling your right hand STRAIGHT BACK...not down and around.
c)throw the ball with your left hand up in the air high enough for swinging hand to be at the top point of it's reach.
d) swing at the ball with your right hand, with a REALLY strong hand. (and open hand, like you were giving the ball a strong highfive.)
what you do with your left hand is poit in the air the place you want it to go while doing C.
follow through with your left and right hands.

most of it is just asking your coach, or a volleyball playing friend for help.

Volleyball is a truly game and regardless that humans would possibly not feel so it's via some distance probably the most bodily annoying physical activities. I've performed each and every game recognise to guy at time or a different and I'm certainly not extra worn out then after a particularly well rally in Volleyball. Back in HS my volleyball workforce would run circles across the football workforce.

One due you have the strength to get the ball to the net. If not practice throwing a basketball at a wall hard about 20 feet away from the wall. Then after a couple of days. Work on hitting the volleyball. Make sure both feet are shoulder width apart. place the ball in your left hand if right handed. Place you right hand on top of the ball, draw you right hand back like and arrow. Then toss the ball up in front of you right shoulder and contact the ball straight above your shoulder. The toss is the most important part of the serve. If the serve goes up high you hit the ball behind your shoulder, in the net you hit the ball to low. if the ball goes right you tossed it to the right,

If you are right handed, hold the ball in your left hand and hold your left arm straight out. Put it in the position that when you look at the top of the ball you can see the top of the net. Toss the ball up and hit it before it gets level with your head and hit it with your right hand. You open all your fingers like you are showing someone the #5 before you hit it. If the ball drops too far after you toss it up, it will cause it to be served into the net.

If just getting it over the net is your basic concern, I would say make sure you stand only about a foot behind the line and if you are right handed, use your left hand to toss the ball in the air and use your right hand to hit. Concentrate on hitting the ball square with the palm of your hand. Try to serve from the middle of the court to give yourself the most leeway to the right or left for the ball to still stay in bounds... Practice with a partner to have them retrieve your serves... Just like learning to shoot free-throws, practice serving hundreds of times... work on getting 90% inbounds before you start trying to do anything fancy.
