That if you were born and raised in believing in god/saved as you get older into adulthood you may slip away and do your own thing. But you will always find your way back to god and what your were raised to know and understand after time goes by.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.

This is a promise that, if we stand upon it in faith, says that if we do a good job getting the Word into a child when he is young that he will come back to that truth when he is older. I can personally attest that this is true in my life and in the life of my children.

But remember that this is in the Old Testament. If we are Born Again by accepting Jesus as our Lord, believing that God raised him from the dead, then we have a better covenant (testament) based on better promises in what we call the New Testament. There we have more powerful promises to work with than in the Old Testament.

There isn't a verse that specifically says that, at leas that I know of. A verse that is close is in Proverbs:

Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it

Tere isn't anything in the New Testament that says this, and the Old Testament is not concerned with "finding your way to god". (They figured god was there and if you didn't know it tough noogies.)

You may have gotten a garbled version of the Ropman church's maxim that if they have a child until he is 12 they've got him for good.

Train up a Child in the Way that he should go, and when he gets older, he won't depart from it. (Proverbs, I think)

I think the Catholics try to use This, and Others , didn't Work on Me.
I met the Truth!
(commies use it too).

Yes you got it, the seeds were planted; some needed more water; some needed the light; some were stubborn; some got burned out...and it took time for them to grow again; God held some back for the right time, for his purpose:)
