What important events happened while Anne Frank was alive?

I know about the Holocaust, WWII and the concentration camps. I just wanted to know if there was anything else that was happening while she was alive. :]

WW2. The Nazis were putting Jews in death camps and a Christian family hid Ann Franks Family in their attic.
