I'm a former U.S. military man, and also a former mercenary soldier. Believe me, I have many stories about those times.

here's a great military story I posted a while ago. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtqJcVfCgiSeU6BqPjK795nsy6IX?qid=20061001095532AALvXpr
I'm currently enlisted in the Air Force. I've only been in for just under 2 years. I'm 22 this month, and married to a civilian. Personal stories? Um, I graduated basic training as a war hawk. That means the best of the best in physical abilities. I was better than most of the guys and all of the girls in my flight.

My job is to load bombs, missiles on the F-15 fighter jet and to do electrical and mechanical work on it too. THe people I work with are awsome! I love my job and being the military. I'm the only one in my family to be in the military. (except one uncle was in the Navy).

um, did that help. Sorry, I don't remember any cadences. Basic and tech school was a while ago.

As far as hoorah.....um, in the air force we say "hoah" i think thats how u spell it. and it sounds like you're saying huh only elongate the U sound.

HOORAH is for navy SEAL

OOHRAY! is for marines

Go to your local VFW and buy an old timer a beer or shot of whiskey, these old WW2 and Vietnam vets will talk your ear off. Take a pad and pen and say you are writting a peice on forgotten f-ed over heros.
They will speak.

Hello there:

Hoorah, the phrase that you mentioned, when used in
the Marine Corps is pronounced "Hooyah."

A friend of mine told me of receiving a Dear John
letter from his girlfriend when he was stationed in the
boonies of Viet Nam. He said that the letter upset him
so much that he didn't want his friends to see him upset.
So he picked up his pack and rifle and walked out into the bush to be by himself for a while. As he sat there in
the wee hours of the night, he began to hear funny
noises now and then...noises that shouldn't be there.
He said that he was already mad at the letter, and now
the Viet Cong were about to see his tears and that ticked him off so badly that he charged the noises while firing his rifle and throwing grenades. In a short while he
realized he had killed almost 25 enemy troops who were
making an attempt to encircle his camp. He walked back into camp the next morning and nothing was said to him.
I guess you ought not to get him ticked off.

Sorry but everyone has been wrong thus far about Hooah.

For Army it is "hooah" pronounced "who ahhh"

For Marines, and Coast Guard it is "OohRah" pronounced like it looks.
