Good question. I guess the percentage may be rising, at least in North America and Western Europe, as many couples live together before the wedding, so "first night" is not such a big deal to them. In addition, in these societies many brides and grooms may tend to drink too much at the reception, which would also drop the number. Factor in the amount of travel often done from the reception to a honeymoon site, and they may end up at the destination too worn out to do anything but crash.
Let's just elope, then. We can come back later and have a ceremony "for everyone else".

I sure didn't do anything on my wedding night. Because I had to get up at 6 in the morning for hair and make up. And our close friends had a party for us after the reception that lasted till 5 in the next morning. Then we have to catch a plane for our honeymoon. So, I guess we were too busy to have sex! :)

i know im part of the percentage pn my wedding night my hubby got sick at the reception and was sick for a week so we didnt until the next weekend...i heard not everyone has sex in their wedding night.

I dont know but I can tell you that I will be in that percentage when I get married. It creeps me out to think of having sex when everyone who was at your wedding knows that thats what you're doing that night. I dont want the image of my parents and relatives knowing what Im doing at that moment. Ughh.

I'm not sure if anyone has done a survey. I know many couples have already had sex before they are married. Also, many couples are either too tired or drunk after their wedding parties to have sex.

I am 60 and only know of one couple who did not have sex on thier wedding night.

I honestly don't know the answer to your question but I do know that I didn't have sex on my wedding night. I think more couples than you think don't. It's just that many don't talk about it and therefore we all assume that they do.

I don't know exact numbers, but I will add to it! We will have an evening wedding and I expect us to be completely exhausted!

I don't know actual numbers, but I've heard that a lot of couples are exhausted and end up just going right to sleep.
