No, dogs are a pack animal, and require to have a family and a leader..daily! Unless you keep him in a dog day care, he will have too many emotional issues to ever be a good companion..

No you shouldn't, unless you can take the dog with you when you travel. If there is someone else who will be at home while you are gone and who will be loving and kind to the dog, then it would be OK. When you are home on the weekends, you could make up for lost time by giving the dog lots of attention and love. I hope you can work it out because there is nothing like owning a dog. They are so loyal and love you unconditionally. I have 4 little dogs in my home!

Well, you really shouldn't get a dog if you can't give it attention 100% of the time unless you live with someone else that can give it attention too. But if you really want a pet that bad, maybe you could adjust your work hours.

Definately not, dogs need to be played with a lot. Especially puppys it will pee in its bed the whole day if your not going to be there. Your dog will have a miserable life if your going to be gone every day except for weekends.

give your love to an animal at the shelter; visit them ; walk them; donate ; volunteer; animal rescues need help to transport an animal to foster homes ; there are so many ways to help animals who don't have anyone looking out for them. When you can be fair to a dog's needs and not just to your needs, then you should think seriously. Is it fair for him to be in a crate while you are out for most of the time; maturity is when your do the best that you can for a pet not just to satisfy your need; so many ways to fulfill this without calling just one dog yours ; you could do some good for the unfortunate abused animals

No.
The dog will be stressed and lonely and when you are home the attention you give it will not make up for being alone for so long. It will create a tough "yo yo" situation for the dog. Alone a long time and then overwhelmed with your presence.
I know it is hard to wait, good for you. These days its hard for people to deny themselves :)
Someday you'll be able to have a dog and spend time with it and it will be worth the wait.

Who would take care of the dog throughout the week? Doesnt sound like a good idea to me. Invest in a pet rock! They are very low maintenance...or get a stuffed dog!

No. Your neighbors would probably report you to the SPCA or something...
If you're lonely, get an outdoor cat. They can hunt for themselves, so they won't starve. And you can train it to come back home by leaving some food out for it every night(like a treat that it would be able to get only at your house [albacore tuna works]) Just pray that it's a smart one and doesn't try to imitate squirrels...

It's okay to want a dog. It is not okay to get one and deprive it of what it needs.......attention.
It's nothing short of abuse to neglect an animal. Dogs not only cost money, you must invest time also. Do the dog and yourself a favor and get a fish or something.
