He is probably really tense or stressed out. I do it to and it's a really bad habit. Tell him he needs to try to stop or he'll get lock jaw and wish he did.

I just want to say congrats on being a single parent! I have friends that are single parents and i can only imagine how much harder it is to raise a child on your own.
To answer your question, it is normal. My 14 mth old daughter grinds her teeth from time to time and before she was a year old she did it daily. I read somewheres that it has to do with teething, from the pressure on the gums from the teeth coming through. Grinding his teeth relieves the pressure on his gums. I don't know any tips from stopping the grinding, nothing worked with my daughter. She just outgrew it.

There are many reasons why a child would do this. It could be just the start of a bad habit. It could be in response to pain in his teeth. It could be the beginning symptoms of a muscular or neurological disorder. All are reasons to see your pediatrician and/or dentist.
Please remember, support can be found in the most unlikely places, like here! You can feel free to email me with questions, or just to chat. I am no expert, and my son is older (13 this month) but I will be happy to chat with you and give whatever support I can.
Best of luck
Jennifer

Teeth grinding is bad for the teeth, and is probably annoying. I would take him to a dentist to see if there is a reason for this, and if anything can be done. This might be something he will grow out of, on the other hand, it could be the beginning of a bad habit.

a baby that age has no theory that hitting will damage. he's in basic terms experimenting, seeing what's going to take position even as he does particular issues. children are certainly curious - the unique scientists of the international! saying 'be effective' received't help in any respect, because at this age he has quite a lot no idea of 'effective' or 'recommend'. even as he hits you, gently take his hand, and say, 'everyone isn't for hitting. It hurts me once you hit - owie!' and then rub your arm, with a sad face. Then proceed, 'in case you want to hit, you are able to hit this particularly..' - and direct him to a beanbag, or a wide pillow, or a cushion or notwithstanding, and enable him hit it as a lot as he needs.

well...it is very bad to grind you're teeth..and your son apparently has too much sugar in his diet/system...you need to give him worm medicine!!! after that he should stop.....if you don't give it to him...eventually he could develop a worm..and it will eat his food when he eats it therefore no weight gain and eventually it will come out in his stool..healthy!? i think not..i've seen it happen time and time again...adults need to take worm medicine aswell..i take womr medicine about every year or every six months if i had too much sweets in a short period of time...the medicine is pinkish red..and is tastes really sweet/tart..and theres now side effects..all the waste just comes out i your pee..my sister gets it all the time and so did i..when we were your son's age..so theres no need to worry!!! good luck!

My son is 2 and he tends to do this when he is teething. Try to ignore it because my son knew it bugged me so he did it more.

They do it on purpose, knowing it's annoying. Ignore it.
