I changed the megapixels but it says the file is still 1.75 mgb. I went to infraview but don't understand what to do.

Go to
www.photofiltre.com
download their free edit program
Once installed, open the programme.
Open a photograph.
See toolbar. See 'Image'. Click on Image and a drop-down menu offers you, among others, 'Image size'.
If the website restricts image dimensions, you can now type in the width and/or height that you need.
NOW - here's the clever part.
Go to File, drop-down - Save
A window will appear with a slider bar.
See 'Preview' button bottom left - click it.
You will now see your image 'size' in kilobytes. IF the number is too large to meet your website restrictions (probably 200kb max) slide the slider left and hit preview again. Do that until your kb figure meets requirements.
Now you have dimensions and resolution parameters all sorted. No more problems.

First of all find out if the website has any limitations for the dimensions on the image, for example 350 pixels x 350 pixels. Next, all images on the web are set to 72 dpi so if your image is 300dpi you are going to have some problems especially if the website you are using doesnt resize the image for you which this one doesn't .
In terms of editing your picture for the web, there is only so much you can do with your camera in terms of editing which is why there are so many photo editing applications on the market. My suggestion for you would be to track down a copy of Photoshop elements, a stripped down version of the full version of photoshop often times bundled with digital cameras. Despite most peoples impressions of this software being incredibly difficuly, for doing simple things like resizing images is quite easy. Go to file > open >select your image. Then go to image > image size > type in the values you want for your image size.

Be sure they are 72 dpi and fit about 8x10" or 10x8 (vertical or Horizontal)
