How about asking better questions, for starters...
Basically, for my nickel, I think the Right Answer on all of this is to just start sending em home. Dry up the jobs, get city ordinances on the books that'll prevent people from coming in illegally to begin with, problem is pretty much solved, end of story. Done deal, next case.
Try asking real questions, like 'how many illegal aliens cross the border every day'...
