Because children are curious,assume everything from their observation are good.Maybe their parent smokes or maybe bad influence from TV or environment.

To seek attention,they often like to smoke because they think it is cool to copy bad people on TV. Some follow friends or are addicted by abusive adults forcing cigars and cigarettes in their mouths. It is awful, but yes even the youngsters of the population smoke.
