I have a 6 month chihuahua and I was just going to call the vet to make an appt to have him fixed, but.... today his little wienne came out. Does this mean he is in heat??? If so how safe is it for them to be fixed while they are in heat. He is only 2 pounds 7 ounces. Any advice would be appriciated. Thanks

You don't need to have any worry about that, as male dogs do that at any time..They don't have any 'heat' season... he is just becoming sexually mature, and it is the perfect time to have him neutered..

Males don't go into heat---call and get him fixed now and you'll be fine.

Pat yourself on the back for being such a responsible pet owner and getting him fixed at this age. You're making sure he isn't susceptible to certain cancers down the road.

Have a great day!

Male dogs do not go in to heat. As long as he is healthy you can have him fixed now. If there is a female dog in heat around he will act like he is in heat. Go ahead and get him fixed, it is a good thing and can keep them from getting certain cancers and they make better pets. Good luck with your furkid, sounds like he is a real cutie.

Forgive me for sounding as though I am surprised at ur question, but.........Male dog's do not come in heat, that is only the female (*********) You will always find the male dog doing this especially if he is over excited for any reason, its perfectly normal and no need to take him to see your Vet. He is about the right age to start thinking about having your dog neutered, if he is showing his Penis a lot then he is becoming sexually mature, now is the time to have him done.

Males do not come in Heat! It is their instinct to act like you male is. I raise Yorkies and recommend people to get the puppy spayed or neutered by 6 months of age. It is so much better for the animal if your not going to use it for breeding. Getting your pet altered helps it to live longer, have less kidney problems, hepls prevent mammory tumors in females and keep them a puppy at heart.

male dogs do not go in heat, only females. males can smell a female for miles away but it drives them crazy.
getting your male dog neutered will help alot. if your not sure
exactly what neutering is then your vet can explain the procedure
for you. it's not as big of procedure as spaying females.

male dogs do not enter a heat cycle. Heat cycles are akin to menstrual cycles in people. Only the female has one.

I believe your little bad boy got a sniff of some female pheronomes floating in the breeze. His erection was caused by this scent. Somewhere out there a female is in heat. could be any type female K9. Watch him you open the door, he might bolt out on you.

a male dog does not come in heat, that only happens to a lady dog, a male is always ready for it, (no change there then like the human ) his thingy can pop out anytime, sometimes when he is straining to poo for example.
