I have read in many places that Atheists are the least trusted minority in the U.S (or it may have been in the world). I pretty much know why non-religious people think they are not trusted, but I was wondering if any religious people could RESPECTFULLY explain why you or your peers may not trust people who are not the same religion or do not have a religion.

I am pleased with my objective answers, however . . . I feel only one or two people have tried to answer my question. Which is, why are non-religious people so mistrusted?

Newcovenant- I like your thoughts and attitude, I too try to trust people no matter their demographics.

tammidee- Like you, I am not religious, however, I did ask for you to answer in a respectful way. I find it insulting to me that you would bad mouth people who I am asking why they bad mouth me (and you). A bit hypocritical I think.

I suspect it is the lack of a written moral code thatthey try to live by. Even if your moral code would include death to all Christians I would not like you mutch but I couuld trust that you would try to hold true to your tenents.

I think it's because we all want to believe we are right. Alot of times I just try to make sure what others are telling me coincides with what the bible says. If it does, I trust them. It's interesting how may different translations you can get from a verse. It's scary when churches start coming up with their own ideas rather than just read and follow Gods word in the bible. I think deep down, we all know that we believe in one God, and at least we have that.

Christians think that if you do not believe in their god, then you are wrong. I personally think that so called Christians are the most hypocritical and judgmental people in the world.
By the way, I am not an Atheist, but I do believe in myself.

I think that is a bit presuming, don't you? I trust people who give me reason to trust them, which is usually trust until proven they cannot be trust, be they Christian, or not. I don't weigh trust issues on what someone puts their faith in, or not.

I never met a moral Christian, that would require Honesty, which is shunned by religion in general.

Morality is the answer to this. Those of any religious sect believe their religious background leads them to good morality, and those of varying faiths do not have the "right" moral values.
