Quitting is hard to do and I'm sure you know that by now. Truthfully, cold turkey is the only way to it, in my opinion. Try to do other things like chewing gum, tic-tacs, etc. Once you make it one year, you'll feel much better and you'll not want one. One thing I did was take all the money that I would use to buy smokes and save it in an account. At the end of the year, you'll be surprised at how much money you've saved. Take that money and go on a nice vacation or buy something to reward yourself.

If you backslide, don't beat yourself up. Put them down again. Most people fail at LEAST a few times before it sticks.

The biggest thing is you have to want to quit for you. If you really don't want to quit, you'll smoke out of spite. I know its corny, but it is true. There are a lot of reasons to quit (health problems, smell, etc.), but if you don't want to, you'll never be able to do it forever. At lease that's how it was for me. I wanted to smoke, so I smoked, then I wanted to quit and I did. It really is mind over matter. Nothing more, nothing less.

Good luck, its a habit you will not miss at all in time. I actually can't stand to be around smoke now and its been a little over a year since I put out my last cigarette.

Best of luck to you!

Coming from a smoker to another, wanting to quit is a big start!! I have lots of friends who have tried to quit, either from the patch, smokers gum, being hypnotized& others. I have not ever wanted to really stop, so therefore I still risk my health & spend all that money smoking. My friends that quit are the ones that wanted to & told me they just laid them down & walked away, when they had the urge to smoke they chewed gum, and ate lollipops and sunflower seeds (sunflower seeds really work) when i eat them I dont smoke. I wish you the best of luck & wish I knew a site that could help you, but you have already crossed a major threshhold in just wanting to stop.

Quit cold turkey. Chew gum.

I'm a bit surprised you can't find any other support groups for quitting smoking. Have you tried running a google search for groups that help deal with addictions?

Good luck!

You need to realize that smoking is bad for you. You must be strong enough to want to stop and there are plenty of support groups nationally. You can probably find one in your area, or call the local hospitals to find out where there is a reliable program. I wish you good luck and kick the habit for good!

If you really want to quit smoking then every time you want a cigarette then have a bag of seeds their much better than smoking cigarettes. If you end up having a cigarette then remind your self that your the one that is killing your-self and when it does happen you'll be hurting a lot of people...

Hope this helps
Good Luck!

hey friend, you can quit smoking by yourself, you don't need a support group. i know it sounds stupid, but just don't buy any ciggies at all, even when you think you really need them. that's how i gave up. it's been hard, but if you really WANT to do it and really need to then you can, i know you can.

it's about mind over matter.
