The difference is whether one is engaged in the practice of offering sacrifice to God for the people.

Priests offer sacrifice to God. Ministers and others don't.

Just as it was foreshadowed in the old testament, with priests offering animal sacrifices to God on behalf of the people, Catholic priests all around the world offer Jesus, the perfect once-for-all sacrifice of Calvary, to God, on our behalf.

This was foretold in the Book of Malachai:

Malachai 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even to the going down, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place there is sacrifice, and there is offered to my name a clean oblation: for my name is great among the Gentiles, saith the Lord of hosts.

A true bishop is a God and Church ordained successor to one of the apostles, a literal "ruler-servant" and chief teacher of the Catholic church.

Bishops of other denominations merely enjoy the title, with no authority from God to back it up.

Preachers can be anyone, ordained or not, who proclaims the word of God.

A Pastor is typically the head priest, preacher, or minister of a particular congregation.

Rabbis are essentially teachers.

A priest, Bishop, Cardinal, -- they have all been ordained by Apostolic succession to consecrate the Holy Eucharist and lead God's people as long as they are in Communion with the Pope. The Deacon is an ordained person who can give some blessings and handle some ceremonies within the Catholic Church but, he is not ordained to consecrate the Host during Mass. In the Catholic Faith we call priests Pastors but not ministers or preachers. They can do both preaching or ministering though.

The Bible says that all Christians are made "priests" (not in the connotation of the word as we see it today) this refers to the Levitical priests of the Old Testament who were the only people able to approach God. Today, the Catholic church has decided that only the people they put in charge could be priests. lame.

A preacher is a person who expounds truth (hopefully) from the word of God. Simply put, a preacher preaches.

The word minister literally means servant. A nursery worker at a church who serves by watching little kids during service is a minister as much as the church leader is.

A pastor is a person who is to shepherd the church. The congregation is his flock and he is to watch, inform, and protect them like a first century shepherd would his sheep.

don't forget elder, deacon, teacher, and bishop. that will make for a good follow up question.

The truth is a priest is a catholic term equivalent to confessor. A preacher, minister, and pastor are protestant terms that are interchangeable but reflect the primary gift of the clergy. Some have a gift for preaching some for healing the sick and some for guiding the flock.
