True. It's mostly called teaching them ethics or ethical behaviour.

True as far as you went.

But a family has an obligation to teach children how to survive in the world too, beyond the local society, the local religion, or local nation.

In other words, submitting to any authority figure is not necessarily the most important thing.

One the main functions is to teach children how to live properly, regardless of what society is doing. The answer to your question would be false. It is much more important to live properly than to survive. If you are not living properly and treating others properly then you are just wasting a valuable life anyway.

True. Parents should teach their children that they can't always go around and get everything they want but that they have to work to get things.

I agree with Jim H. Parents are our first teachers. Allow children to see discernment by your (parents') example.
Sometimes, people survive and thrive despite their society.

True.. They need to be guided. If they see take on things in the "real world" by themselves they won't know how to respond.... You would want to start them off.. So they know whats wrong or right. Then see how they deal. Only teach them as much as they need to know. YOu have to let them explore a little by themselves.........

With survival we should teach our children the difference in right and wrong as it relates to the Bible.

True. True, as long as laws are not broken. Such as "Hey, I'm broke and I need some money so I'm going to steal, rob some unsuspecting person, to get the money I need"
