I like the answer above (30), but I will give a more reasonable one: 20. Dating alone is a fun time but it leads to more serious commitments which you may not be ready for. The years after high school and at the start of college/career planning years are filled with enough new situations, stress and anxiety. I think by age 20 you have a handle on things and are ready to date and have a relationship.

A good age to start dateing is probably when you can drive because then you can go on dates. But also dateing at any age is fine because when young love is found most kids are to afraid to do anything any way.

13 or 14 is too young. IF kids are made to wait until they are 16, they will rebel, feeling they waited too young, now they feel they have to make up for lost time, all so they now can drive, so they are being cut lose with way too much freedom all at once.
At 15, they are not driving yet, so more chaperoning can be done and maybe then kids can be taught how to apply some guidelines.
