Right now is not "right before Xmas". ANd I wish they would stop showing the commercials and playing the music already. It just stresses people out.
But, as far as your question- what exactly is it? Are you saying you won't have money to purchase gifts/decorate? I'm really not certain.
If you don't have children- don't worry about it- explain to everyone it's been a tight couple of months and maybe suggest some "grab bag" ideas with groups of people you would normally trade with.
If you have children- tell eevryone else you will not be exchanging because it's been a tight couple of months and yoru holiday will focus on your children. Look for sale items.
Hope things get better for you. Things do seem to mess up all at the same time.

It happened to me last Christmas, we had a flood and ended up with no carpets for Christmas. If it was another time in the year it might not seem so bad. Christmas pressies and other expenses too. I do sympathise. As for the taxing government, yes tis painful, but not much we can do about that, prison food is horrible, and you may hear even wierder banging noises! Seriously, sorry you are in such a pickle, but hey - the Euro lotto this week is offering quite a good return for a lucky ticket. Be lucky. x

It may be time to just let go of everything, and get the stress off of yourself. Have a more scaled down version of the holidays than you usually do - just simple. This may not be the year to do a lot of entertaining - just have your family together. Don't worry about spending a lot of money on gifts. Find some time to relax and listen to goofy Christmas songs - or, alternatively, lovely Christmas carols - whichever strikes your fancy.
You just sound like you need a break. Put your feet up for a while and eat some chocolate!

I didn't think you were moaning, you're right, the government does just take it all off you, and soon they'll charge you for living in a nice house and (have you heard this one) parking outside your own home! Amazing aren't they.
Anyway, back to the question, it's only just November, you have nearly two months to go, and I think it'll be a lovely Christmas huddled up in front of the fire (or gas radiator) wrapped in your new Christmas jumpers and duvets cuddled up with your family. You'll have a lovely Christmas, don't worry about a thing!

well, those things are hard, but I had a Christmas a few years back where I was very very ill, it was highly likely I was carrying a dead baby or he was about to die, my husband was so stressed his mouth was erupting in blood every few hours and he was working 12 hours night shifts and our son who was very much alive and looking forward to Christmas had sausage casserole for his Christmas dinner. That was a bad Christmas but we still managed to do our best. Just make the best of what you have. It all works out one way or another in the end. (The baby lived by the way, the husband is not so stressed anymore and I am fit and healthy now. Christmas in our house is much better these days!!)

Sorry about your problems, but we all have them at one time or another! As far as Christmas goes, surely the family will understand, take Christmas back to what it used to be before it became a $$$money$$$ thing. Just enjoy time w/ your family and remember why there is a Christmas

I have just had a bad car accident, and my car is a right off. I'm lucky to be okay, as it was a jcb that ploughed into me. But i've been left badly shaken, sick, can't sleep and lost 2 weeks work cos i'm too traumatised to go back. if that wasn't enough, there's all the insurance paperwork to go through and it's getting me really down. I have a family also.

OK I see someone tell you to save money, maybe the don't know how hard that is? Anyways, if you have kids tell them sorry but we'll be having Christmas later then Christmas day this year. Then once you have the funds get them one big gift they want more then anything to make it up to them. If it's just you tell others sorry, same thing and hope to god they understand

Yeah, same thing here! Today was a new car battery, tomorrow will be something else. If you are truly tapped for the holidays, then explain to all. Find as many freebie things to do with family and friends.
As for taxes......what can I say? As long as people want government to solve all the problems, they will continue to take your money.

After cried, I think it is time to plan what need to be done.
What kind of things you need to replace or change first.
Will the Xmas sales can help you save some money?
Don't just sit and get upset.
Get up and check the thing you need and how much to pay before it really totally breaks down.
