We are social animals so being useful, caring, and helpful gives meaning to life. That can take many different forms.

I am not a religious person in any conventional sense and have no beliefs so I don't depend on other's ideas of reality for meaning. A lot of people have weird ideas that being submissive to some authoritarian God gives their life meaning. I just don't find master-slave religions to be very helpful.

Being a caring, helpful person is the only thing that really gives meaning to any person's life. And you don't need God for that.

What gives meaning to my day is the fact that I know that I am here for a purpose. God's purpose. He has given me a beautiful place to live, surrounded by all the wonders of nature and a loving, supportive family, wonderful grandchildren and a loving and inspirational church family to enjoy. Waking each morning and asking God to show me His will for the day and having these wonderful gifts makes my day full of purposeful meaning.

That I was here to wake up. That all my kids are healthy, that I am healthy (well besides a cold but it could be worse) That we have food to eat, clothes to wear, water to drink, we can worship, own a bible, love God, love each other. I have a roof over my head, heat for the cold, A/c for the heat, everything. Everything is a blessing. Everything gives meaning to my day.

Getting something positive done. Completing a job like getting the lawn work done or getting the house cleaned. Finishing a project, job, duty, and having the feeling of success and "job done"-finished that goes with it. Doing something/s nice for someone else. Blessing, helping them as God desires we do. Spending time with God..prayer, reading/listening to the word of God. Putting my faith into action...actions speak louder than words. Take a little quiet time seeing all the beauty of the world and good God has given us not the least of which is our salvation.Time spent with loved ones and doing something we like makes for a good feeling too.

Being kind....letting others go first, not returning evil for evil; praying when I see a need, praising God in all things, thinking of His Word and being a doer of His word and not a hearer only.

And then getting up the next day and doing it all over again *smile*.
