a soft hit on a credit report is when a credit record is requested without the consumer applying for credit.

example: when a consumer pulls his or her own report.

or when a insurance company requests it for promotional offers.


a soft hit does not reduce your score..

A soft hit is in an inquiry which was from the consumer or for a pre-approved offer. It does not affect your score.
