If he's like it in the morning, take him to a vet. My cat has recently had many visits to the vet for drooling. She had something on her fur which burnt her tongue and mouth and she couldn't eat or drink. It could be the onset of something.

Drooling

Q: I have noticed lately, probably over the last couple of months that my cat has been drooling a lot. She seems to be healthy, but she has been getting more distant from us..usually only around for food, and things like that. I'm wondering what may cause this, and is it a serious problem? Thanks very much

A: Drooling can occur for a number of reasons in cats. Probably the most commonly identified reasons are gum or teeth disorders. Oral ulcers can sometimes cause excessive salivation. Problems that lead to nausea, such as renal failure or gastrointestinal disease also cause excessive salivation. Some cats salivate excessively when they are nervous or stressed. This is a common reaction to oral medications and application of flea control products, too. Your vet can help sort through these possibilities and hopefully find a treatable cause.

My cat drools even as she hasn't considered me in a lengthy time period... Like if I spend the evening faraway from abode. She receives excited when I come abode and he or she'll initiate to drool when I puppy her. I also had a previous cat whose drool might want to drip always when I puppy her. that's no longer some thing to be alarmed about till that's a mucous-like excellent drool. Then i might want to be in touch.

Some cats drool when they are happy but if the drool is excessive or continues when he's not relaxed or it has a bad odor, a vet visit is definately in order. Cats also drool when they are in pain or have a gum infection. If the drooling lasts longer than 30 minutes, call you vet please!

We have a boy cat who drools when we are petting him. My vet agrees that its becasue he's happy. (In that case, he must be euphoric the way he drools, but he's happy and healthy!!)

Could be something wrong with his teeth or gums, that was the problem with my cat when she had the same symptoms and she had to have some of her teeth out!
