I've been taking Gleevec 400 mg. since 03-01-06, have all the side effects and am almost bauld on top of my head. I think I look like I'm alot older than I am since I've been taking Gleevec. I have a brother that is a match if I ever need to have a bone marrow transplant (which I hope I don't) and most of my family doesn't care if I'm sick at all. I catch every bug around and colds easily, I wear a mask as much as I can to help prevent this. My step son and his wife just can't get it in their head that I can't babysit when their kids are sick, to them they're not sick but when they get to my house they are coughing and have a runny nose and I have it a couple of days after being around the kids. I think I'm gonna start telling them I can babysit if they give me enough money for a dr. visit and perscriptions 'cause I always end up at the dr. office after being around their kids. Is that being mean of me? Does anyone understand where I'm coming from?

I wish I had any good to contribute, I think you are not being mean, because its not only the illness or the cost, one of these colds may get you to the ER or hospital one day. You are right to point out to them that you can not be around sick kids at all, good luck with your treatment

Well i am not taking that sort of drug however leukemia is a very serious thing and i think its wrong for your step son to just drop kids off at your house i am more than sure at this stage your in you are weak and stuff and your the one that needs help to recover or heal so tell him and his wife to find another babysitter until you can heal properly cause if you dont heal properly than there S.O.L and dont worry about how mean you are becomming you have every right to be this way and to feel this way and they need to start respecting that if they dont you make sure to show them where the door is. And i hope everything works out for you.

I desire you the very ultimate. Please do extra study in this and hear on your Dr.s suggestion.
